Yes, these are truly edible. :) and no no, I haven’t been picking up baking (too!), but erm, maybe soon…here’s a cookie that caught my eye. how about someone make me some – ….u know who you are. ;p go to forty-sixth at grace to see more pics and download the recipe.

back to stencilling. wasn’t really fussed with clean edges or colors with this one, especially since more than half of it was done by sweetie. anyway, it was supposed to have a “rugged” look (so’s I tell meself)

Have a few things done, but it’s just been tiring and difficult to get good picture opportunities. Played around with a borrowed camera and came up with this above. Heart and Paper are sitting in front of a crocheted heart (if it’s not clear to you – need to get some starch to get it to hold shape better). It’s slowly becoming a butterfly kingdom and came across this wonderful butterfly which I wish I knew how to do.
On the side, I don’t think it’s just me, but the weather has been hot hot hot, and humid humid humid! I mean more so than usual (which is one reason you might realise I don’t do many scarves, shawls – still WIP!, blankets, etc.). Perhaps it’s the heat (or perhaps age) but been rather forgetful of late too. I thought I dropped my crochet hook yesterday but happily found it at home. Went back to doing flowers the other day and gave one done as a magnet in a beautiful purple shade as a pressie. Once again, no pic – I really need a camera.
And, someone was asking me what a “swap” is about and to be frank I haven’t really had the opp to get about explaining and detailing it. Basically, people sign up to contribute something (in this case it could be some crocheted item). The administrator/organiser of the swap pairs up the people who sign up and everyone participant is given a partner’s particulars (mailing address) to send the item to. In a way it’s like a gift exchange, and I envision it could be a lot of fun and interesting, especially if it’s handmade. Sometimes swaps don’t have to involve end products – could be yarn, buttons, or other craft items/collections to be used in craft projects. This is also great in that different people living in different parts of the world/country have access to different things at different times and it’s a good way to share. There are swaps ongoing on/with many different organisers/craft-design blogs and here is one going on right now called the 2010 Lovely Package Exchange by (hello, my friend.) you are loved. I was hoping to list these on my “events” page but now managing so many pages is running me down since I couldn’t get the calendar to work – but I’m tenacious so I believe I’ll try again (looks ok now) :) Now, you may be wondering how it manages to work but I think like many things in the blogosphere, it’s about trust and reputation. Contributing is out of your own good will and interest and sometimes I understand that there are people who don’t send out things (it happens), but such people are also dealt with by the blogosphere in the usual way (you know what I mean). I think the system’s not airtight but I believe it manages to work out all right.

I have been wanting to do a bird amigurumi and was looking for a good pattern, but I just couldn’t find one that I was completely satisfied with. Thus, i decided to experiment and came up with this – completely self designed (done on the fly!)! :) I purposely didn’t look at the pattern instructions of any bird amigurumi (in any case I didn’t find anything similar to this) so that I could come up with something completely original. Pretty happy with it, although I find the beak a bit too big, not too sure whether I wanna redo.
and new project…guess? Actually it’s already done but I decided against something and so it became un-done.
Must admit I have a soft spot for black kitties.

This was customised to look as much as a friend’s cat, Horus, as possible. The real Horus is black with white socks, black muzzle and black short tail and a white spot on his nose. I’ll get permission to post his picture. Took a lot of time with this as kept getting the colors wrong initially without a picture of the actual model. Had to redo a few parts and felt a bit like Dr Frankenstein!

Close up of his face.
And, starting the granny squares like I mentioned!

Is this cute or what? perhaps it’s a good thing I do not yet have a doll….

Very nice poem a dear friend sent to me a long long time ago (and thus the condition of the paper) about finding your own strength. Click on it to enlarge and read.

Hope you all had a good good lunar new year holiday. Mine was pretty different from any past years is all I can say. :) It did involve a bit of crocheting – including finishing up this basket with a handle like requested, and the brown kitty which has been called an owl (literally) and now the name has stuck (some sort of weird oxymoron – Owl is a kitty kat you know). ;p In the basket are the butterflies that I’ve finished, to be dangled from the ceiling later on.
Well, if you didn’t like this picture much, the asst creative director nearly had a fit over it. :) She said it was too too messy with everything inside the basket like garbage. Oh. Well, maybe later when there’re more opps you’ll be spared these types of design boo boos…

And, a few people have been asking me what exactly are granny squares. They are usually repeated squares that are used for bags, scarves and afghans/blankets. Or other uses…see more at a flickr group dedicated to granny squares
